Animals Should Definitely Not Wear Clothes!

Today we compared & contrasted "Animals Should Definitely NOT Wear Clothes" to "The Hat."  I love how the ending of the hat mentions that animals don't need to wear clothes so it's easy to connect the two books.  The students also selected and animal and an article of clothing that just don't mix!

The Hat

Don't you just love Jan Brett?  We do!  Today after we sequenced and retold the events of "The Hat," the students completed a creative writing response.  We talked about similes (using like or as to add more description to your writing).  Then the students wrote about something that could be on their head that would make them look "as" silly as Hedgie!

We are smack dab in the middle of an author study.  I'll be posting my unit plans (7 days of activities) along with pictures and ideas soon!
