picture books

If you love books as much as I do, you should take a look at a new blog that I recently discovered! I love this blog because it covers such a broad range of topics, it is cross-curricular, and it also has excellent tips for teachers about teaching reading, creating books, genre...and much more!

Right now the current post has literature about freedom, the Civil Rights movement, and famous African Americans who impacted our country, like Rosa Parks.

  2. Thus site is Fantastic! Thank you. I live teaching with picture books but I am in need of some new ones. I should say my Black History books are lacking. I only have A picture Book of Martin Luther King Jr, A picture Book of Rosa Parks & Amazing Grace. I love the illustrations & stories of the ones she's featured. Thank you. I'm even going to send the site to our Media Specialist/ Librarian!

I also have to hunt down a video called My Friend Martin" about a modern day boy who travels back in time to meet Dr. King. The kids Love it.

  3. What a great blog! This has prompted me to upload my "Sweet Clara and The Freedom Quilt" Lesson. It isn't cutified, so anyone who would like to help me out with that, please do so. I haven't been properly trained in "cutification", but I do own all things D.J. Inkers, so time is of the essence.

    Happy Sunday!
