A New Blog. . .

Teachers Pay Teachers is having a sale right now!  If you enter the code (G2RM) at the checkout you can save 10%!  Last night as I was searching through for new ideas and great resources, I discovered some really great stuff from two fellow first grade teachers/bloggers.  They're having a giveaway for one of the things that I purchased from (which also happens to be one of my favorite purchases that I've ever made onTPT).  Click on the photo below to check out the blog, and take a look at the giveaway.  The unit is available as a whole set or individually.  I highly recommend it because it's adorable, and it's full of great stuff that's completely connected to literature!

Got Style?

Amber from Fabulous First Grade and Othe Shenanigans awarded me with the Stylish Blogger Award.

Here are the rules for receiving this award:

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this
award.

2. Share 7 things about yourself.

3. Award 5 recently discovered great bloggers.

4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award.

7 things about myself:

1. I would love to take a culinary arts class to add a bit of spice to my cooking skills.

2. I am an early bird...very rarely am I still asleep at 7:00 a.m.  (This is mainly due to 2 very active fellas who will remain nameless).

3.  My favorite places to dine (in no particular order) are Pappadeaux, Chick Fil A, Pinkberry, Cheesecake Factory, and Sonic.

4.  I once played the part of "the juicer" in a 4-H skit.  We were featured on the "Mr. Food Show (which will mean absolutely nothing to you unless you grew up in East Texas)."

5.  I love singing, but I only sing around the house while no one else is around.  I especially like to sing with a hairbrush in front of the mirror with the music turned up really loud!

6. I have been skiing twice, and decided that I was much safer (and warmer) sipping hot cocoa in cute little botiques while my family members hit the slopes.

7. One of my favorite movies is "Coming to America."

I have selected the following amazing bloggers to receive this award:

Cara  http://thefirstgradeparade.blogspot.com/

picture books

If you love books as much as I do, you should take a look at a new blog that I recently discovered! I love this blog because it covers such a broad range of topics, it is cross-curricular, and it also has excellent tips for teachers about teaching reading, creating books, genre...and much more!

Right now the current post has literature about freedom, the Civil Rights movement, and famous African Americans who impacted our country, like Rosa Parks.

Cute Stuff!

The past few days I've had a lot more time to surf the net, blogstalk, and peruse through all kinds of great teacher resources (due to the arctic blast here in Texas).  These are a couple of my favorite ideas/posts...check them out!

1.  I love Mrs. Bates' 100th day Portraits with accessories.  The cotton ball hair is just too cute!  These are priceless.  It looks like our 100th day will be on Tuesday so I might just have see if I can squeeze this in (amongst all the other stuff I have to squeeze in)!

Isn't it darling?

2.  Mrs. Waddingham's blog has some really cute activities for math, science, writing, and football! One of her friends also makes the cutest little trinkets! I am in LOVE with this mailbox, and I'm headed to FB to get more information!

3.  Mrs. Wills is also giving away lots of freebies!  She has already posted some word work and math activities that are connected to Valentine's Day and showing love!

4.  I also discovered Mrs. Patton's Patch.  She teaches first grade, and she has several social studies units about comparing "long ago" and "now."

5.  Last but not least, Mrs. Harris, a second/third grade looping teacher posted a Valentine Coupon book.

There are so many more wonderful ideas that I have seen!  I wish I had time to compile a huge list of all of them.  There would probably be 100's of great ideas/activities for February.  However, while the boys are napping, I'm off to try to catch some z's myself!
