Brown Egg, White Egg

My first grade students are learning a lot about diversity, respect, and Martin Luther King Jr. this week.

We began our lesson with this book.
Then I showed the students two eggs (one brown and one white).

We created this chart and talked about how the two eggs have more things in common.  Just like eggs, people have more things in common with each other.  We also talked about how we're all the "same" inside.

We are working on Dr. Martin Luther King directional art and "cut apart" sentences.  I'll post the pics when we finish!
