A Bad Case of Stripes

Today my first graders had a great time thinking "out of the box" and picturing themselves as a doctor, scientist, or specialist.  Take a look at some of their inventive pills, cough syrups, and assorted medicines!

Cute! With my kinders, we read the story on www.storylineonline.net, and then we created our own "diseases": ____ has a bad case of ____! Answers included diamonds, squigglies, polka dots, letters, numbers, etc! They were really creative with it! Thanks for sharing!

  7. I LOVE this book!! But any activity I've ever seen for it has dealt with older children. I may have to read the story again this year just to use this. :) I've also printed out pictures of the students and let them color their "disease" on their own faces. It's amazing - and hilarious! - what some of them come up with!
