Hundredth Day Happenings!

Here are a few of my favorites from our 100th day.  Each student brought 100 "mystery items" in a brown bag, and we used our inferencing skills to think about each item.  They wrote down clues that described the texture, size, shape, and how the object was used. There were some very creative mystery objects, and the kids loved this project. We had everything from silly bands to gummy bears, but surprisingly-no duplicates!  We used the bottles to create a class book and review descriptive writing skills.

I hid 100 "smarties" around the room.  Then the students had 100 seconds to find all of them.  They were each labeled with a number (1-10).  After 1 minute, they found all of them!  We sorted them and grouped them according to their label.  We used a "giant 10 frame" to help us stay organized.

We also created a giant love bug with 100 hearts.  We made a list of "100 things we love."

This week we worked on different ways to make "long o" words so we read "Arnie the Doughnut."  We created a giant doughnut and put 100 sprinkles on it.  We also created a chart with Arnie's characteristics, and information about the setting, beginning, and ending of the story.

We did several other 100th day activities, but these are just a few of my favorites!

  2. Great ideas as always! The 100th day masks rather than glasses is a cute idea.
